It takes the next day after you reach a new elite status for it to take effect. So if on Dec 9 your MQMs push you from Gold to Platinum, then Dec 10 will say Platinum. I forgot how, but there is a way to get the full date of your Platinum status I believe if you click in on your Skymiles.
That's exactly how it worked. Checked my phone today and was Platinum status. Also have the option to select my Choice Reward on the website now. Thanks!
