Giving you the first 5000 points could be seen as an confirmation, that you have been eligible for this promotion. If the IT fails due to beeing poorly programmed, this is usually a problem of the company. It is of course depending on what the fineprint in the flyer or advert says. I am nevertheless a bit reluctant, but if there is not fineprint indicating a special tagretted audience or making any assumption , I would follow up with headquarter or contact one of the compaby representatives of IHG here on FT.
