Ultimate Rewards discriminating against my wife

June 2016, I posted that I was unable to transfer ultimate reward points to my wifes United account. I had been able to in the past. This time I was unable to as my wifes legal name in her passport was longer then the 20 something characters that visa allows. At the time Chase was unwilling to do anything saying it is out of their hand.

The reason behind wanting to transfer the points to my wifes account would have allowed us to book a ticket and zero out her account. Eventually the miles already in her account expired.

A few months ago I contacted Chase again. They rubbed me the wrong way on not getting me my United Club membership card. I spoke with customer service who once again was unwilling to help. Saying they do not show anything in the notes about this.

I contact the executive office and they say they will look into it and say that they take discrimination very seriously.

I just got a letter back saying that the transfer would not go through as her chase name did not match her mileage plus/passport/legal name. No mention of that there are not enough characters allowed by chase/visa so I could use her mileage plus name so this would not be an issue.

I see it as discrimination based on race, sexual preference, gender, marriage and nationality. May be extreme buy chase should have found away so that the miles could be transferred. Manually or otherwise.

I am trying to get a transfer done again. Hopefully 18 months after this was brought to their attention it is no longer an issue going forward.
