My biggest pet peeve in this regard is bathroom "doors" that don't actually enclose the bathroom, whether they are a sliding door on rails in front of the door opening, a glass door that doesn't reach the floor/ceiling, or whatever. I don't understand why anybody would think that was something that would be okay to most non solo travelers.
Fairfield Inn & Suites opened in El Segundo this past summer; I've stayed there a few times ... the sliding "barn door" concept allows access to EITHER the closet OR the bathroom
