AS miles are more valuable than AA miles so it makes sense to accrue them especially if you are already an AA Elite. I have recently booked CX J awards;

YVR-HKG//HKG-DPS 50K
JNB-HKG//HKG-BOS 62.5K

How many AAdvantage miles would you need for these awards? I will be stopping over in Hong Kong in both directions. Oh yeah! AA doesn't allow stopovers.

A very small opportunity--and many lost ones. AS has really taken a big hit with their loss of partnerships this year. VX lost HA/VS/VA. AS lost DL/AM/KL/AF and most of AA. Yes, there are a few still left but those losses make is much less compelling for somebody outside of the West Coast to consider AS. Remember that FF partnerships are ideally about bringing revenue to AS. AS doesn't care much for people that are flying AA internationally and never setting foot on an AS plane. The amount of revenue gained is insignificant. Also, if AA finds too many people are crediting to AS, they could simply cut it off.
