I've also been to some properties with design choices that similarly eliminate or reduce functionality in the name of "style" - it's annoying. I recall there was a bit of a tiff maybe a year ago, over Marriott announcing one or more of its brands would not have in-room desks - I think the rationale was partially "because millennials don't use desks anymore"? There was some social media pushback but not sure if anything changed.

Sometimes you see a similar issue in other areas, too - cars, home appliances, etc.
