Obviously Starwood Capital Group is not Starwood and nothing is final until the contract is signed but the hotel component of the somewhat controversial 85 Spring Street Project is heavily, heavily, heavily tipped to become the St Regis Melbourne.
The project is focused on the Chinese Market and the growing strength of the St Regis Brand in that region is a strong driver of this potential branding.
If true could potentially be a great hotel. Nicely designed building, great views, perfect location. Planned 2020 opening for whichever hotel gets the branding.
