It’s not just East Coast. AF is re-launching its non-stop from SEA to CDG in spring and they still have several flights from YVR (2 with KL), SFO, and LAX.
With loss of AF AS MP is also loosing the only partner they had flying to PPT in Oceania from the West Coast (LAX). Unlike DL and AA they didn’t parter with TN, so AF has been the only option for reward redeption to PPT.
AF is gone as a partner so it really doesn’t matter any more. The point is that the priority for any replacement for that partnership will be a carrier with a West Coast presence. Having award availabity or redemption from the East Coast makes very little difference to the vast majority of people regularly travelling on AS—especially given the loss of DL/AA. It makes very little sense for anybody in the East to be loyal to AS.
