It’s not just East Coast. AF is re-launching its non-stop from SEA to CDG in spring and they still have several flights from YVR (2 with KL), SFO, and LAX.
With loss of AF AS MP is also loosing the only partner they had flying to PPT in Oceania from the West Coast (LAX). Unlike DL and AA they didn’t parter with TN, so AF has been the only option for reward redeption to PPT.

AS can probably count on one hand the amount of loyalists they have on the East Coast so it does not make any sense to concentrate their efforts on finding partners from the East Coast. They are more interested in having code share partners on the West Coast that would actually feed revenue their way.
