Well, I love to use public transit where it is available, and since I'm a city lover I usually do find public transit options when I travel for business or pleasure.
However, strike Boston off the list of places where I will use the subway. They intend to start profiling passengers, demanding to see ID, and searching passengers' bags. Shameful, indeed, for one of the cradles of the American Revolution! Boston's not that huge anyway, so you can see most of the interesting parts on foot and use a taxi when walking is impractical.
