But you can book direct flight LAX-PPT on Air Tahiti Nui under QF code and you will get both Avios and (if I recall correctly) also TPs for that. QF 3816. Same with a number of other airlines in the region - FJ to NAN, Air Niugini etc. as long as booked under QF code.
