Driving LAX to Oakland is 370 miles and Google Maps suggests 6 hours 17 minutes. I would probably be looking at flights to SFO or even SJC or SMF and then train / Uber to get me to Oakland. I think by the time you get to "last resort" stage it would be too late to drive!
