I have never flown with Hong Kong Airlines but very tempted to try them from YVR to HKG because of their amazing airfares but not so good reviews keep me from taking the plunge.
I hear different viewpoints whether it is a low cost or full service carrier, though Hong Kong Airlines itself seems to think of themselves as full service carrier according to information below I recently received in a promotional e-mail. I am also surprised that it is considered a 4 star airline but it's Skytrax and it probably doesn't mean much:
