I think if you look again at TripAdvisor you will see that the overwhelming majority of reviews since August are an extremely positive 4 or 5 out of 5. Most find the hotel to have very nice service and restaurant and an excellent location with nice rooms and suites. It isn't perfect...but then it is a Westin, not a St. Regis!

There are a few 1-3 out of 5 reviews, almost all of which are from people with 1-15 reviews total (always suspicious to me) or who largely are complaining that the lounge hours weren't announced or what they hoped for or that the lounge was too crowded or closed.

Having been many times to Cape Town and having had many friends stay here, I think this is an excellent hotel in Cape Town--within easy 10-15 min walk (or shuttle ride) to the V&A Waterfront and very convenient to almost everything else Cape Town has to offer. And usually (but not always) at pretty reasonable rates for Cape Town. Most Plats are treated very well here, too, from what I've heard. (I've never stayed here because I have a favorite luxury boutique hotel I prefer with only 5 rooms and a suite, but I have visited my friends here on many occasions, the last being Jan 2015.)
