What would be some of the Hilton branded properties that we should consider?
That's a bit of a contradiction, isn't it? You're not going to get an authentic Italian experience staying at a Hilton property. Regardless of brand they tend to be cookie-cutter, and are located too far away from the center of things, out on the outskirts. Beware, they all say they are in the center, "close to everything including the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Villa Borghese, Circus Maximus." Those places are close to one another by helicopter, or by taxi during off hours, but not by foot, but they all advertise that way. The Hilton in Venice is not in one of the six sestiere that comprise the historic city of Venice. t's on an island, and you have to take a boat back and forth to get to Venice. The Hilton in Florence has, "easy access to the city center," if you call an hour and fifteen minute walk easy access. In if you walk into any of them, mainly english is spoken, and they took you in blindfolded, you really wouldn't be able to tell if you were in Rome, or Chicago, they pretty much look alike. If Hilton points is the only way to do it go for it, but you will be compromising the authentic Italian experience. You can't have both. I mean, the closest Hilton to downtown Rome is over a half an hour walk to the Pantheon, and was built out of a former bank. There may be some in other towns, but I really doubt it if the authentic Italian experience is what you are seeking.
