However, your parent will have to have a a serious injury or UNFORSEEN serious medical condition that is considered life threatening or requiring hospitalization, or requiring your care (paraphrased). Also, the policy must be purchased within 14 days of the initial trip payment and must cover the full cost of all trip arrangements. I guess the UNFORSEEN provision might cause a problem as it appears your parent might have a life threatening illness now or be hospitalized already.
