Since OP mentions a combination of valet tags + FC I am assuming that we are dealing with a CR7 or such and yeah, it can make a difference as there are definitely enough pax to completely clog up the jetbridge and then cause a big scrum once the bags start randomly coming off and everyone who is wayyyy down the jetbridge fights back up to the front to take a look. Nice to get out before it gets too bad.

On a related note, earlier this week I was pretty proud of myself...CR7 flight (albeit UA), valet checked bag, just stayed put in my seat reading while everyone else got off. Waited for a visual on my bag leaving the aircraft and moving to the ramp, got right off, caught the handoff smoothly and was on my way. Felt like a real pro. Probably will never work again.
