First time poster here. I read the entire thread. Flying UA business class LAX to LHR. I take it that it's worth my time to check bags at T7 right when bag check opens (3 hours before flight) then walk to TBIT (via T4 to take advantage shorter lines for TSA Pre) for *A lounge access (as opposed to UC in T7) - has anyone does this before for a flight originating from LAX (as opposed to a connection) and/or have any insight? UA has almost 24 hr staffing at LAX and should be able to take your bag if you want to get there more than 3 hours before the flight.
I do exactly what you're planning on doing every time I fly UA from LAX, domestic or international. The UC is a nice space but the amenities are severely lacking. As the other poster said, walk land side to T4 Precheck then take the tunnels back. Its about 15 minutes each way if you know where you're going.
