2 - the CAA say that children <12 need to be seated adjacent to an adult. That can mean across an aisle or in the row in front or behind.

I'd also say that looking at seat maps is not a good way to find out how empty a cabin is as many people won't select seats in advance because they refuse to pay and will only do so once OLCI opens and even then many wait till they get to the airport
