Your interpretation is debatable given the other language in that document and the overall benefits guide. It also contradicts what two people I know who filed claims with CIBC went through last year. In both cases, they were told they were required to have paid the YQ on their Aeroplan tickets with the CIBC card and that fact was verified before the claim was processed.
So, did you actually file a successful claim? Or did you just speak to someone who may not have known the correct information?
