I have moved most of my admittedly modest business to AA since the beginning of '17, where I have no status, and have been pleased with the experience.

Most recently I experienced a 3 hour plus MX delay on a LAX/PHX segment. When I returned home, I sent a brief comment/complaint to AA about my late arrival into PHX. In less than 45 minutes I received (1) an acknowledgment of my message, (2) an apology and (3) a $100. voucher.

This admittedly is a situation where the facts (delay) can easily be verified, unlike an unsatisfactory inflight experience, but still impressive.
