Did you actually successfully file a claim for a trip that you paid for with Aeroplan miles and didn't charge the YQ to the card? mapleg already posted the excerpt from the insurance certificate, but it's also clearly stated in the main body of the text in the overall benefits guide to the card, so it's not like it's buried in the fine print.
The point I, and others, are trying to make is that even if you don't use the card a lot, consider the value of the insurance that you get with it. Even if you don't spend a lot of dollars on the card, being able to put YQ on it and get insurance on Aeroplan tickets may make it worthwhile.
There is no verbiage in the details that mention having to charge YQ to the card. This was also confirmed by an adjuster.
