My (simplified) 2 cents: tip in the US, don't tip in Europe or Asia.
Asia is a very big area. I would not tip in Japan, but would in Indonesia, Thailand, etc.
In the last 6 months, I’ve been getting exhausted if trying to go through customs, or walking long distances or standing for an extended amount of time. I used the wheelchair service since then at CGK, CDG, JED, FCO, BKK, NRT, DFW and PHX. I had the best guy ever at DFW last week.
The guy at CDG was running with me on the moving walkway and launched me out of the chair when hitting the exit. The chair in CGK was rubbing it’s wheels against the frame, and giving me a very hot ride. Always an adventure!
I’d consider a $1 tip an insult, if they took you more than 50 meters, I don’t care what country you’re in, if it’s a tipping country. Better to give nothing. My first guy in BKK kept asking for more and more money, even after I had tipped more than $10 in Baht.
