Well, I do admit to not having utilized the subway. I also have to confess to having ditched the hotel restaurants. We had a wonderful dinner at an upscale Egyptian restaurant that had primarily Egyptian diners. We had put together a collection of renegades escaping their tour groups and had a great time.
On the whole we much preferred the back alleys of Luxor. Had a great evening there. Met the local Coptic bishop and had some interesting discussions.
Was I glad I went? Yes. Would I pay to return? No. Would I go if someone else paid? Yes.
