How strict is the QF baggage allowance handeled?

Hi guys,
Do you know how strict is Qantas with respect to the size limit of the baggage within international flights?

For international flights, baggage allowance includes 2 suitcases of 23 kg maximum. But they also set a linear size limit of 158 cm per suitcase (height + wide + depth = 158 cm) and a total linear size limit of 270 cm for two suitcases.

Well, each of my suitcases are within the individual size and weight limits, but both total 301 cm which is well beyond the combined limit of 270 cm.
Will I be charged due to over sized baggage? Any experience on that?

(I traveled last June but I bought the ticket from Students flight and the e-ticket didn't include this "combined limit" and I had no problem when checking in with Qantas.
But this time, I bought the ticket directly from Qantas and the "combined" size limit is mentioned int the e-ticket this time. )
