I'm resigned to rolling over 12k MQM and just buying up to C+ or F at ticketing for the first nine months of 2018 until I get back to Platinum. Fortunately work will pick up the tab to C+ for trips which are 1100 miles or more, which means I can buy up to F cheaply at times. Also next year, VS and AM have increased MQD for Premium cabins, which will help balance the rollover MQM.
In your case you'll still be Gold, it's still ok. But in my case if I do nothing I would end up Silver, which is completely useless
