should get NZ earn rates, provided that K is economy on both carriers (I think it is, that may be a *A standardised class). The reason you can't select Partner Flights from IAH to AKL and vice versa is that UA does not fly that route, all flights are NZ operated.

Wouldn't surprise me if you have nill earn crediting to NZ.
But based on previous experiences from others in the same situation, the contact centre should correct to NZ earn rates.
