Earlier this year I flew on KE with a transit time of 1hr 15m at ICN and was concerned about my luggage, but the plane was about 40 early. Coming home from ICN we
left about 45m late but arrived at ATL almost and hour early. To the experienced Transpacific flyers is it common for the flights to arrive earlier than the officially stated
arrival time ??
If it's simply ORD-HKG-BKK all on CX metal, I would say it's fine. However, the ATL-ORD leg is on AA metal. Assuming AA does not screw up the baggage between at ORD (and this is a big assumption), your baggage will most likely be fine.
In terms of transit time, 65 minutes are enough. Note that you need to go through security check at HKG, which is usually pretty quick.
I would not say it's normal to arrive early on TPAC flights, but it's not uncommon (so keep your exp low).
