While I have no illusions about cracking airline pricing patterns, I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to be curious and check. I know airfares go up and down. Sometimes I get a great deal and it goes up the next day and never gets close. Sometimes it drops by half and I curse. But I lIke to know, more data gives me a (likely illusory) sense I can predict better in the future. YMMV
Yes, I think to the extent that one is trying to learn about best booking times, and that one can
actually learn, then yes - more data is good. But just to make yourself "feel good" that you got the best deal may not be a great idea.
