Yes, and the OP explicitly wanted to cheat the airline... Can you answer the question of whether his damages are indeed limited to 100 USD?

Under the Montreal Convention, the passenger can claim up to around 1,200 USD per passenger for luggage that is delayed more than 4 hours.

Airlines can ask for receipts etc and will offset any claim with cash given upfront.

Passengers must hand in their claim in writing. Note that the damages here are not for any inconvenience but just to cover actual cost as long as plausible and reasonable.
