You took the words right out of my mouth. I like cabbage but just not as salad material.
Call me old-fashioned, but I was taught, when working part-time at a restaurant during my younger days, that salad should be "green". The boss insisted that we pick out as many green lettuce leaves as we can for the customers, so the salad looks green and rich and healthy, not pale and "malnutritioned" - his exact words. He once even said vehemently to one of the workers that cheap restaurants serve white-looking lettuce salads. Till this very day, I look at salad and think it should be green. Funny how this kind of little things stick to our mind forever.
