I think its good advice to check out what might be open before you leave for Milford. About 10 years ago, we did the same thing with two teenagers. Booked Milford since it was operating on Christmas and everything else was pretty closed up. We were able to eat in central queenstown that night at a restaurant, cant remember the name, and certainly not up to date information. The other idea is to go to a grocery the day before and stock up and leave some things in the hotel room for when you return if you have fridge. Are you doing bus and/or plane to Milford?
