Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.

My headphones are not noise-cancelling, and neither are the Sony 888s. However, I can tell you that while noise cancelling headphones do a great job of eliminating "white noise," they are not effective on talking or honking - stuff like that.

The isolation phones are probably your best bet to muffle *any* noise, whether it's white or talking, or whatever.
