Thanks for the comments As it turned out I was selected to have my documents check, which I did but also for secondary screening. I Found the secondary screening intrusive but not unpleasant. It was over quickly and the woman who checked my hair clips was very pleasant and not mean or rude. Still made me very anxious but thanks for the good thoughts.

I have to say the virgin Atlantic people on the phone when I called very anxious were very pleasant and reminded me that they have not had online checking it all for very long, so that it’s quite routine for people to need their documents check. However when I did see the dreaded SSSS on my boarding pass I knew I was in for a little problem but as I said it went quickly.
