It seems like there have been an increasing number of service interruptions on the BTS of late...I ride the skytrain daily, 4X typically, and almost every day it seems like there are problems, mostly small of course (trains stopping between stations, trains stopping at the wrong spot in a station, 12 minutes between trains, then three in succession, pretty much non-stop apology announcements) but still unusual in my ~ 15-ish years experience.

COMMUTERS TRAPPED IN BTS RUSH HOUR BREAKDOWN

BANGKOK — A system failure left hundreds of skytrain passengers stranded on platforms and in carriages for an hour. The trains broke down at about 6:24pm, according to a statement tweeted by BTS management. It said there would be “10 minutes delay” for train rides. However, the system wasn’t back on track until over an hour later at 7:39pm. The system’s operator did not give any reason for the breakdown.
