As someone who has flown 30 segments with LO this year, I'm not sure I'd agree entirely with this, at least if we're talking about long-haul flights. I flew WAW-ICN-WAW earlier this year (in Y, not Y+) and the crew on both legs were among the laziest I'd ever experienced. After serving the initial meal they basically disappeared to the rear galley and spent the whole flight there, only re-emerging just before descent to serve the second meal (you had about 5 minutes to eat it before the seatbelt light came on). All the pax were going back to the galley to get water, etc. as the crew were not proactive in walking the cabin every now and then to offer refreshments. After witnessing the reaction of one of the FAs to a nearby pax who had the temerity to press the Call button, I decided it would be safer to trudge back to the galley myself. All the Y crew members were sitting in a huddle chatting to each other, and when I broke up the conversation by asking if I could get some water one of them simply pointed to a trolley where I could pour it myself - she did not speak, she simply pointed and went back to the important business of chatting with her fellow crew.

My partner, who had not flown long haul before, was shocked by how poor the service was and by the indifferent attitude of the FAs. I tried to reassure her that the return leg might be better as it was a daytime flight, but the result was exactly the same going back. Admittedly, this was a Y flight and I'd certainly expect that those in Y+ got better service, but the contrast with the Y flight I took on SQ to SIN recently was enormous. The SIN flight was nearly 3 hours longer but it was so much more pleasant that I still felt good at the end of it. The LO flight seemed like purgatory in comparison.
