Bingo. I rememeber the day of the mid-90s drastic cutbacks. The day the west coast meal service went from a 3 course hot dinner to essentially what we get today. The F cabin was shocked, as was the flight attendant. AS used to have commercials where they'd show the competition receiving a tiny box called "tasty" with some tiny little sandwich or something coming out of it, and then, the AS meal service. Now, AS will be serving LESS than the OA "Tasty" box in Y.
Even for the better part of a few months, QX is serving pretzels. And more pretzels, and nothing but pretzels - after hawking how they have creative little snacks, etc.
Although I "know nothing", it would appear that AAG is poised to earn $$$ hand over fist when the economy perks up.
When the '90s changes occurred at AS, the airline (management) had a smug and arrogant attitude about it - I certainly hope the management team in place won't act the same way. Creative suggestions on how you can save money and yet serve a better product received replies of "these are the new facts of life, take it or leave it." Fortunately, Ray Vecci left before years of goodwill disappeared completely.
I certainly hope things are better this time, and I don't feel the same sense of "I'm going to take my business elsewhere" that I did several years ago.
