I've never heard of lack of food helping jet lag. I don't think the lounge can just supply food for the aircraft either, there have to be some regulations involved. VA doesn't have a lounge at LAX anyway.

FWIW, this is STILL a problem. I just flew LAX-BNE, only in Y this time. Catering was pretty terrible and the staff apologized in advance. I noticed they gave PE passengers vouchers to buy food at LAX and bring it on-board. None for Y pax though. Not sure what they did for J.
