There's not much availability even in February (only Feb 3 is available LAX-PPT), so I would assume it's just an availability issue. I do see an LAX-PPT flight available on March 8. The availability issue could be either AF's LAX-PPT flight or the AS/VX domestic flights; remember that AS/VX flights have to be available
in low to be able to combine with a partner to redeem an award. So with only one LAX-PPT flight available per month, the odds are pretty good that there won't be availability for a connecting itinerary from BOS without any changes to the AF/AS partnership.
For what it's worth, I can't get LAX-PPT flights that are available with AS miles to show up with Delta (eg on Feb 3, returning Feb 9).
