When you go to Campo de' Fiori you will see stalls selling olive oil and limoncello in Italian boot-shaped bottles. Does one think that Romans actually buy and use olive oil or limoncello in their home that comes out of a boot-shaped bottle? Campo de' Fiori is worth a walk through in the morning, but the tourist-to-Roman ratio is probably 100 to 1, so I wouldn't stay near there if you want feel as if you are in Rome.
The one good thing about it is a bakery called Forno Campo de Fiori. Pizza in Italy is very disappointing, unless you are in Naples. And pizza is only served at night, and is generally not available for lunch. But Forno Campo de Fiori has pizza bianca, or a white pizza, available in the morning. In Italy they don't eat breakfast, but a pizza bianca for breakfast at Campo de' Fiori is worth putting up with the tourism there. They have been making great pizza there since before Columbus came to America. It is really delicious. I wouldn't choose it as a neighborhood to stay in.
