Aaahh I could kick myself! Do you think if I reach out to Marriott they might extend something in the way of courtesy?
Edit: I read the T&C's and they aren't awarding 10K points; just 2K for the first 5 stays.
No big deal as I've decided to re-book at The Westin in the end. Marriott's cat. 5 vouchers aren't of much use to us in CA over the next 6 months and we'll earn more points this way. If and when I do end up booking a stay under my wife's acct in order to take advantage of some future promotional offer, I'll likely just create a new acct. for her and go through the process again so that I can use my referral link. Thanks for letting me know about this.
