Of course you can get a bad crew or a bad meal sometimes, but do you really think there is not a difference between a seat in F on a A320 with 36" of pitch where you will be served defrosted hamburger sliders and a lay flat bed with premium bedding and a chef driven meal (granted, not always great)?

I know people like to complain about D1 on here, but IME the vast majority of the time the FA's working D1 cabins are among DL's very best, and the experience is almost always fantastic.
You said "higher level of service." Differences between hard products (seats) is totally different than service. The food isn't any better. Just different and served in courses.
