I'm the opposite - I check all the time (maybe not 2 times in the last 16 mths & those were on 24 hour trips). Luckily UA rarely loses my luggage (maybe 3 times in years & years) & it usually comes in on the next flight. But - I've been 1K for years & never knew of this benefit, so on those rare occasions I stood in line like everyone else.
