It is possible to walk at ground level among the following terminals:

T1 <-> T2 <-> T4 <-> T5 <-> T7

T8 is the only terminal you cannot access by walking from anywhere else at the airport, because of the configuration of the Van Wyck Expwy and JFK Expwy. You must ride the AirTrain (or take road-based transportation) to access T8.
