Dogs are frequently used in police, military, and rescue operations. In addition they serve as valuable guides for the blind. It seems that there isn’t pushback from those groups based on allergies, hygiene, or just general disgust or grumpiness. As has been pointed out, man and animal have coexisted for millennia and many developed parts of the world integrate dogs into daily life without dramatic ill effect. What is it about American frequent flyers that makes so many so delicate and fearful?
