Very tired of the complaints about dogs. Was just in Germany last week and really appreciated how welcome dogs are in public spaces--and this, from the Germans, the masters of organization and decorum.
I travel with my dog frequently. We don't allow him to sit on sky club furniture (he remains in his kennel bag). But in general I want people to relax about dogs. Yes, there is the very rare story of the doberman ESA or a dog bite on a plane (extremely rare) but you know what, life has the potential for accidents. Sure, reasonable steps should be taken but I think we are only going to see an increase in dogs. As our culture urbanizes and people delay or forgo having children at higher and higher rates, many will turn to pets for companionship and to make their lives and homes feel more family like. This is OK, and we just need to adapt.
Also, I have really bad allergies, and you know what, I don't expect the world to rid itself of everything that triggers me. I take allergy medication, get shots, and manage. You can to.
It occurs to me that, for the vast majority of human history, humans and animals have co-existed quite well. It's only in very recent modernity that some of us have not lived with animals.
