I used to use room service pretty much excluively when travelling by myself. Only recently have I gotten used to the idea that its actually quite okay to walk into a decent restaurant by myself and ask for a table for one (taking a good book to read helps). IMHO, MacDonalds does remain the loan travellers best friend though.
