First night in Ghent, Belgium I hit a McDonald's. I was tired, sick, and it was the first place I saw outside my hotel. No shame.
Subway in Wolverhampton, England. We stopped right before a concert. Found out that when they ask if you want cheese it's a yes or no question, and not a "what type?" like in the US. Sandwich maker: "Cheese?" Me: "American" Him:

. This was one of my very few dumb American moments overseas.
McDonald's on Queen St in Toronto: We didn't eat, but were just looking for a restroom. It two levels, so we go upstairs where the toilets are. There's two doors: on the left is the restroom, and on the right is a burlesque studio (!)
We have no problem going to Starbucks, but we'll go to whatever coffee shop is convienent at the time, no matter the brand.
