I am happy to discuss the real pros and cons of winging it WilcoRoger but there really isn't any point in trying to argue about which is better. If someone is interested in winging it, there are tips that can be shared with them and things to look out for etc. It's a travel philosophy, not a contest of which is better.
I happily admit that "winging it" can be very suitable for some. I also was not commenting on getting the "best" or "lowest" price, simply stating the fact that I, for one, would not have been ready to go on our honeymoon using that strategy and referring to your very true "happy wife, happy life" quote, am still not ready to do that.
Honeymoons for most people are (nearly) as important as wedding for everything to run smoothly.
