I recently purchased an unlocked cell and signed up with AT&T GSM National. The sales person placed their SIM in my phone and the phone locked to AT&T sims. I called AT&T and explained what had happened and the person on the other end of the phone was utterly helpless in providing info on how to unlock my phone without any charge to me.

Should AT&T or any other cell phone company be allowed to lock an unlocked cell phone? It was not subsidized by AT&T so technically speaking they loose nothing if I decide to head to another company.
